Any good craft ideas that I could use for a group of students from 5th to 9th grade?

July 30th, 2010

I’m looking for some cute craft ideas that don’t require a lot of materials. I have a ton of scrapbooking paper, a roll of magnets and some random household items I could use ( I have a lot of aluminum cans that I could use for a recycled art project). I’m looking for something that’s not to corny and that the kids would have fun with. Any ideas would be great!

I have always enjoyed origami. Paper mache is fun too – use household items to have them build sculptures and then cover them with paper mache. You could paint the finished product or not. It could be a group or individual project.

When you are done scrapbooking an event, what do you do with your extra pictures?

July 30th, 2010

I am just starting to scrapbook my wedding. I have about 200+ candid pictures and over 700 professional pictures. We have a professional album with about 60 or so pictures in it and a regular photo album for the candids. I am wondering what I should do with my extra pictures after I am done scrapbooking. I can’t put all of the pictures into the scrapbook and its seems weird to have just the extras in an regular album. This is a silly problem, but I am wondering, how does everyone else deal with this?

For wedding pictures, I would put them in the attic in a good storage container. Here is a suggestion that my wife has done with multiple scrap books (not necessarily weddings). Scan all of the pictures, and put all of the images on a CD, then get one of the paper envelopes for CD’s and stick it in your photo album. That way whenever you get an urge to look at the photos (even the ones in the album), you can insert it into your computer or DVD player and give them a look. It doesn’t take much room that way, but you preserve the images so that you don’t have to go stumbling around in the attic to find them.

Where can I buy a scrapbook to put my recipe cuttings in?

July 30th, 2010

They are recipes I’ve cut from magazines, some with pictures and all are different sizes. I’m not very creative myself, so I want to buy a scrapbook so that I can glue these recipes in and keep them altogether.

This is what I do….I use a 3 ring binder and bought sheet protectors. If the clipping it too small I simply glue stick it to a piece of copy paper and slide it in. The page protectors help keep the recipes from getting cooking splatter on them and can be wiped off. I also bought dividers to keep the recipes organized by category. Just go to your office supply store like Office Depot.

What are the best cartridges for the Cricut?

July 30th, 2010

I scrapbook with pictures of family, home, relatives, sports, etc. I have the smaller cricut, and don’t want the multi-step cartridges. Let me know which ones you like and why!

I really can’t say which one I like best but I do like the seasonal heart one and I use my sure cuts a lot more because I can use any font on my computer and don’t need a cart. I go to cricut.com alot their are alot of idea there and if you have any question they lady on the message board are really nice. You can also trade your carts you no longer use.

where i can learn techniques, get updated on new things, and get ideas from different people!
thank you!

I think you have to check out what scrapbooking Groups you find in Yahoo! Groups, and determine which one suits your needs best. They are all free to join. If you join one and find it’s not for you, you just click on "Edit my membership", go to the bottom page, and choose the option to cancel.
